Sailing the Seas of Pannithor

I've recently been working on a number of "old school" Warhammer Fantasy armies using minis from Mantic's Kings of War game. Mantic have recently released Armada, which is a fantasy naval combat game set in the World of Pannithor. I had seen the game but it wasn't until I made a visit to the Mantic HQ in Nottingham that I saw the ships in person.

Armada is based on Warlord Games' rules for their Black Seas system, with a slight fantasy twist. Coincidentally, Warlord had a sale on some of Mantic's Armada items, so I managed to snag a rulebook, some acrylic templates and a card pack for the Kingdoms of Men faction (that uses Warlords ships in Mantic's game) for half price!

Whilst the Basilean ships do look nice, when compared to the Warlord Games' Black Seas ships they do look very "heroic". I therefore decided to pick up the Dwarf and Empire of Dust starter sets. Whilst waiting for these to arrive I visited one of my FLGS, and to my surprise they stocked Armada! I decided there and then to pick up the Dwarf and EoD Booster Fleets to work on whilst waiting for my starters to arrive.
